Noble Links Company, a leading industrial technology distributor and systems integrator, today announced it has been awarded a major supply contract to deliver both enterprise-grade IT hardware and ABB control system components for the ASEAN Smart Grid Hub modernization project, a flagship initiative combining high-availability data infrastructure with next-generation power distribution automation.
The dual-scope contract positions Noble Links as a rare single-source partner capable of bridging traditional operational technology (OT) and modern information technology (IT) supply chains—a convergence increasingly demanded by Industry 4.0 and critical infrastructure projects across Southeast Asia.
Unified IT-OT Procurement Scope
Under the agreement, Noble Links will supply a fully integrated bill of materials spanning two traditionally siloed domains:
IT Infrastructure Layer
Industrial-grade rack servers and edge computing nodes for substation-level data processing
Hardened managed Ethernet switches (Layer 2/Layer 3) with IEC 61850 compliance
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and precision cooling accessories
Structured cabling, fiber-optic transceivers, and network security appliances
ABB Control & Automation Layer
ABB Ability™ System 800xA processor modules and I/O clusters for distributed control
AC800M controller accessories, including communication interfaces and redundant power units
ABB variable frequency drive (VFD) spare parts and control boards for motor management centers
Industrial HMI panels, Profibus/Profinet adapters, and S800 I/O termination units
"For years, project managers had to juggle an IT vendor for servers and a separate automation vendor for PLC modules. We are eliminating that friction," said Chief Executive Officer of Noble Links Company. "By delivering ABB control components and enterprise IT hardware under one technical and logistical umbrella, we reduce compatibility risks, compress lead times, and simplify commissioning."
Technical Validation & Integration Support
Prior to contract award, Noble Links' engineering team conducted joint factory acceptance testing (FAT) at its Singapore integration center, verifying communication handshakes between the ABB 800xA controllers and the new edge-server layer. The team also pre-staged firmware updates and validated network segmentation schemas to ensure the IT hardware would seamlessly join the facility's existing OT cybersecurity framework.
All ABB components are sourced through authorized distribution channels with full warranty traceability, while IT hardware selections prioritize MTBF ratings and extended temperature tolerances suitable for utility control room environments.
Project Impact
The ASEAN Smart Grid Hub, scheduled for phased commissioning beginning Q3 2026, will serve as a regional benchmark for renewable energy integration and grid stability. Reliable IT-OT convergence at the component level is considered critical to achieving the project's 99.99% uptime target.
"Noble Links demonstrated they understand the difference between office IT and industrial IT," said Sarah Lim, Project Director at the consortium leading the upgrade. "They didn't just quote us servers—they specified models with NEBS-compliant power supplies and helped us match ABB's CI867 communication modules to the correct switch port configurations. That depth of knowledge de-risked our entire architecture."
Delivery & Lifecycle Commitment
Noble Links will execute deliveries across four milestones through December 2026, leveraging its regional warehousing network to maintain a 90-day strategic buffer stock of high-risk ABB spare parts on-site. Post-commissioning, the company will provide a three-year advanced replacement program for critical IT peripherals and ABB control modules.
